Bebe’s Path | Dogs Have Their Own Journeys Too

This little guy’s story really resonated with me. In my line of work, I meet senior clients who need to transition into a care facility. For some of them, they live alone and have only the companionship of their beloved pet. Most times their pet will not be making the move with them.

It is heartbreaking to know that these seniors have to go through this in their last years of this life. It goes without saying how I feel for the dogs and cats. Sometimes those fur kids are cared for by other family members, other times they end up in shelter care.

But like us humans, dogs have their own journeys too. I started to think….Does it need to be sad? In the moment it often appears that way, but more often than not… the greater good is just not fully revealed yet.

As it were for Bebe, he was surrendered to the Edmonton Humane Society at age 7 when his guardian was placed into long term care. Shortly after, he was adopted by a man who had recently lost a dear dog friend, Billie. As it turns out these two are a perfect match, meeting at the perfect time in their lives. For the second half of Bebe’s life, he will be doted on and adored by Chuck (and family), and make some pretty awesome dog friends along the way too. And Chuck’s senior years will be made even more fulfilling by having the love and companionship of a good dog. A perfect alignment. Like the universe knows what it is doing…
